The Edenburn family has been difficult to research. The earliest records
that I can find on my family are in the Guernsey County Ohio area.
By 1850 the family is in Tuscarawas County Ohio (and Benjamin is deceased) and a decade or so later
some of the descendants are in the Harrison County Ohio area. However,
my branch moved to the Creston, Union County, Iowa area where they lived
for several generations. I have been lucky enough to have cousins share
with me pictures of the Edaburn Garage in Creston and I think that any
of you car buffs out there will enjoy it. It can be viewed on the
Edaburn picture page.
The name been found
in the records spelled a myriad of ways: Eddiburn, Edenborn, Adbarn,
Etterburn, Edyburn, and Edaburn. The oral tradition of our family is
that the origin of the name is Scotch-Irish, but as of yet I have not
found the immigrant ancestor, and have been stumped with finding the
parents of Benjamin b. ca 1802. A picture of Benjamin's son (also named Benjamin) is over on the left hand side of this page and you can see it also on the Edaburn family picture page. This has been a mystery of over
20 years, but I am hoping one of you out there has a clue that will
help unravel this puzzle. So feel free to e-mail me with suggestions. On the following pages you will find the information that I have put together on the Edaburns/Edenburns. »
