The Williams Family

The origin of the family of Thomas R. G. Williams is from Tredegar in Monmouthshire Wales. In 1844 Thomas joined the Mormon church. He immigrated to the United States in 1858, or thereabouts. After staying in the Pottsville, Pennsylvania area for a short time the family moved on to Illinois and then to Indiana and Iowa. Thomas died in Webster Co. Iowa and is buried in the Fry Hill Cemetery in Lucas Co. Iowa. Luckily I have found a very helpful bunch of folks at the Lucas County Iowa Genealogy Society and one of them has kindly taken photos for me of Thomas' tombstone, which I have placed on the Williams family picture page. There are more tombstone photos of this family that I hope to add in the next few weeks. So far, I have not yet been able to find a probate record for Thomas, but hope to find one in the next few months. Also, there were several other children that I have not been able to find. So, please feel free to contact me if you think you are a descendant of one of the missing Williams.

The Williams family was also quite involved in the RLDS (Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) church after 1858. The woman on the left hand side of this page is a great granddaughter to Thomas R. G. Williams. On the following pages is more info on the Williams family. »
